[Post-scuba training, the aspiring astronaut known as Al Calavicci (Bingo, to most,) finds himself held somewhere between satisfyingly tired and exceptionally charged. Knowing Cocoa Beach to be the stomping ground of one Kara Thrace, he hopes to take the time to seek her out before returning to the Cape for more training.]

[As luck would have it (and often does with these two,) Bingo spies the one person he happens to know in the area. She is down the beach, still recognizable on this dreary and overcast February weekday, and very obviously unaware of his existence at this moment.]

[Let's pretend he doesn't think he's god's gift to women, and that he doesn't bother changing into something other than his swim trunks because he's afraid he might miss her leaving in the meantime. Sadly, we can pretend, but it's hardly the truth.]

Hey, if you wanted me to play doctor, you just had to say somethin'. [Because Al could be a man of many occupations (in bed) when requested, no doubt.]

[She snickers and climbs on top of him despite the sticky heat.] I don't usually need to make requests, Bingo.

I figured you'd enjoy the opportunity, seein' as you're not from around here. Maybe we've got somethin' here you ain't got on Caprica. [He rests his hands on her hips and gives a squeeze.] Unless you want to start at the top of the list and work your way down...

[Kara grins down at him.] Caprica has plenty; don't you worry about that. In fact, we've had the capability to travel within our solar system for thousands of years and we've been using faster-than-light travel to move between star systems for a couple hundred besides. [She tips him a wink.] You pitiful Earthlings haven't even made it to your own moon yet.

[Enter starry-eyed Al, elusive and boyish with all the concepts that were flying around his brain now. But, of course, he doesn't approach the concepts with questions grounded with skepticism. Instead, he goes for the gusto.] How do we get there?

[A shadow passes over Kara's face, causing her to sit back a little.] I don't know. I don't even know how I got here.

[She slides out of his lap and sits on the edge of her bed, reaching for another cigarette.] There was this storm, and I was chasing a Raider in and out of the clouds. That's the last thing I remember before my bird flipped shit and nearly exploded into a million pieces on the New Mexico desert. [She lights the cigarette, briefly lighting the room with the lighter before offering it absently to Al.]

[He takes the lighter, turning it around in his hands as if it were a precious jewel even though his eyes are on her.] It sounds like the only choices are fixin' your bird or hitchin' a ride with me.

You wanna report that back to your COs, sailor? [She turns back to look at him, a ghost of an unhappy smile playing on her lips.] Sorry, but it looks like I'm grounded forever.

Grounded forever? Hell with that, Kara. The technology's out there, or else you wouldn't be here.

That's the problem. [She looks to the window, giving a wan little shrug.] It's out there.

So? [He shrugs and pilfers her cigarette, laying back on the bed and puffing at the ceiling.] We go out there and we get it. And fix it. You've got the principals of all that spacey stuff, I know enough about mechanics to assist, and there's bound to be someone out there who'd be interested in refining anything we can't figure on our own. [Sure, Al, just as simple as that.]

[Kara shakes her head, shutting out his optimism.] Don't you think I've thought of that? I've thought of everything even before I tried to steal that Navy bird. [She lets go a small, frustrated sound, taking an angry drag on her cigarette.] I'm here, Bingo. Here for good.

[He tosses an arm over his eyes and gives a little shrug.] Okay, so you're here for good. But not me. [And then he lifts his arm so he can peer at her.] 'Course, I don't think you're really one to give up, and since I'm gonna go, you might as well come with me.

[Kara makes a noncommittal sound.] Hasn't life as a sailor taught you not to go around making offers you can't keep good on?

You're the only one that's thinkin' I won't make good on it. [He chuckles and sits up, placing a hand on her arm. After a good, long search over her face, he breaks into a grin.] After all this time, I should have just known. You're rather... otherworldly compared to everyone else. [Sorry, Kara, it's still processing.]

[Unable to stop herself, she returns his smile.] Yeah, yeah - you don't have to keep charming me, Bingo. I'm already in bed with you.

[But because he still is, she grinds out her cigarette and leans over him, grinning down into his face.] Thanks for the offer, though. Stern gave me a... a warning, I guess. I'm pretty much unwanted at the Cape, so sneaking me into the cockpit on launch day is probably going to be a little difficult.

There are other ways, I'm sure. We just need to come up with a plan, right? [Though, the more he thinks about it, the more he realizes it isn't probably something that could or would happen soon. Al pushes her hair away from her forehead and his expression softens even more.] And stick to it for as long as it takes.

[At a loss for an argument, Kara nods.] Right, sure, I'll go along with that. [For now, at least.

Aaaaand go-go subject change!]
Wanna grab a bite to eat downstairs? I've got to get to work eventually.

Date: 2010-08-26 04:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bingo-faced.livejournal.com
Yeah, sure. I can always eat. [Oh-so very true. Calavicci plants a kiss on her cheek and then forces himself out of bed to get dressed.] A beer'd be good, too.

[Kara follows suit, dressing on auto-pilot, her mind elsewhere.]

[ooc: Sorry that lame tag is lame. Perhaps we stop here? Or skip ahead?]
