[bingobangobongo]

[Post-scuba training, the aspiring astronaut known as Al Calavicci (Bingo, to most,) finds himself held somewhere between satisfyingly tired and exceptionally charged. Knowing Cocoa Beach to be the stomping ground of one Kara Thrace, he hopes to take the time to seek her out before returning to the Cape for more training.]

[As luck would have it (and often does with these two,) Bingo spies the one person he happens to know in the area. She is down the beach, still recognizable on this dreary and overcast February weekday, and very obviously unaware of his existence at this moment.]

[Let's pretend he doesn't think he's god's gift to women, and that he doesn't bother changing into something other than his swim trunks because he's afraid he might miss her leaving in the meantime. Sadly, we can pretend, but it's hardly the truth.]

[She'd know that voice anywhere, but she still makes a show of blocking out the sun and peering up at him.] I might. [Smirks.] What'll you give me for one?

Anything you can find in my pockets. [Somehow straight-faced, but only just.]

Nah. [Tosses him her half-gone pack.] I don't have all day to spend lookin'.

[Couples his catch with a hand on his heart and an over-dramatic wince.] Ouch. Nice one. [Credit where credit is due.]

[Sits up and lights a cigarette of her own once the pack is returned.] Taking in a day at the beach, Bingo? Is training going that slowly?

[Talking around the cigarette as he drapes his towel over his shoulders.] I don't think I understand the meaning of "slowly" anymore. This is about as close as I've managed to come to fun since I saw you last.

[He nods back over his shoulder at... the water and pulls the smoke from his mouth.] Last day of scuba training, thank god. I could use a drink or five.

[Appears eager for all of about a half a second, but then looks out over the water, schooling her features into an unreadable expression.] They haven't turned you loose, then? That's good.

Yeah, it is. I wasn't worried, though. [Or, at least, that's how he would remember it for future reference.] You been all right?

[Gestures to herself as if a tee shirt, shorts, sunglasses, and half a pack of cigarettes is an indication of how she was doing.] You know me. Clean livin' all the way.

Yeah? [He puffs at the cigarette and fixes her with a fond look.] How come I've gotta come up here and find you if I wanna see how you are? How about a phone call some time?

[Nonchalant shrug.] I've been busy. [Gets to her feet, brushing sand from her shorts.] You due back anytime soon?

No, I've got time and I'm open to suggestions. [Not to be put off, he takes a couple steps around to her other side.] You got something in mind?

[Later that evening...

We come upon the lovers entwined in Kara's bed, sharing a smoke and the same dozy, sated expression. Kara reaches across Bingo to grind out the cigarette and she pauses to lay a chaste kiss against his cheek. When she speaks, her tone is low and her voice is gravelly.] All right, Bingo?

Mm, definitely. [Though his thoughts are far-reaching, he turns to look at her and smiles.] Can say I've never been better.

[Have a slow grin.] Never, huh? Quite the compliment, sailor.

[Al looks amused.] So, what're ya sayin'? That you like it? You? Tough-as-Nails-Kara?

Tough-as-Nails, huh? [She laughs darkly and takes his hand, laying it on the curve of her hip and insinuating herself a little closer. Puts on breathy little moan.] 'Oh, Kara, you're so soft.' Remember that? Just happened about fifteen minutes ago.

Two different things. [He nods, an repeats himself because he doesn't think she believes him.] Different things. They are. [As if to illustrate, he traces his rough fingertips up her side.] Soft skin, but a hard nut to crack.

If your intention is to crack me, you'll have to try harder. [And with that, she drags him closer by the hip, laughing cheerfully.]

[He buries his face in her neck, nipping and nibbling and trying not to laugh with her.] Sounds like a challenge. 'Course, I'd probably be settin' myself up for disaster since you aren't keen on stickin' around.

Yeah, 'cause you really seem like you're lookin' for a little wife to keep your bed warm. [She grins and pulls away, smoothing his damp hair back from his forehead.] Not when you're going to see your stars. I don't want to have to compete.

[Bingo closes his eyes under her attentions and tries to convince himself it's too hot to sleep, despite his desire to do so.] Who said it's gotta be a competition?

Mmm? You sayin' you're gonna pin a picture of me to the inside of your bird? [She laughs, running her fingertips through his hair.]

Naw, that's bad luck, innit? I'll be starin' at you one second and the next? [He makes a 'splodey sound and laughs.]

Anyway, it'd be better to put you inside of my rocketship. [Ha! His rocketship. What a load of... ahem. Al grinned happily.] Take you with me so you can see the stars, too.
