[bingobangobongo]

[Post-scuba training, the aspiring astronaut known as Al Calavicci (Bingo, to most,) finds himself held somewhere between satisfyingly tired and exceptionally charged. Knowing Cocoa Beach to be the stomping ground of one Kara Thrace, he hopes to take the time to seek her out before returning to the Cape for more training.]

[As luck would have it (and often does with these two,) Bingo spies the one person he happens to know in the area. She is down the beach, still recognizable on this dreary and overcast February weekday, and very obviously unaware of his existence at this moment.]

[Let's pretend he doesn't think he's god's gift to women, and that he doesn't bother changing into something other than his swim trunks because he's afraid he might miss her leaving in the meantime. Sadly, we can pretend, but it's hardly the truth.]

Plenty. [Pushes half the drinks in his direction.] But do you really want to talk about work right now? [And there's Kara's favorite evasion: distract, distract, distract.]

Sorry, kid, I've got nothing but work to talk about. [But that doesn't mean he won't let the subject drop. He lifts the shot in salute.] Which means I'm damn glad to see you again.

[Replies in kind with her shot, tipping it back.] I don't buy that, Bingo. It can't be all work at the Cape. I live here, remember? [Smirk!] I know what goes on.

You're passing up an opportunity to tell stories out of school? [Gasps dramatically and lays her hand over her heart, feigning surprise. Dryly:] Be still my beating heart.

If I would have known that was all it took to move you, I'd've kept my mouth shut a long time ago. [Laughs.] Seriously, though, I've been buckling down. Reputation or not, I'd like to keep my career on track.

[Nodding and nursing her beer, concentrating on culling the bowl of mix before her but not eating anything.] Probably for the best. [Turns toward him.] How was Maine?

Snobbig bitched the whole time, but I enjoyed it. [Have a good-natured eye-roll as Bingo takes a sip of his beer and bird-dogs a few pieces of mix from her bowl.] Enough about me. How about you?

Me? I wasn't in Maine. [So she's being deliberately obtuse. Wanna make something of it?]

Well, that's a start, I suppose. You wanna go through the other 49 so I can know where you haven't been?

[Conciliatory sigh.] I've been right here working on my tan for two months.

[Yeesh, was that so hard? Bingo nods.] And it's coming along well. 'Course, you're mostly covered, so I can only guess on the... details.

[Laughs despite herself.] You should know by now, Bingo: I don't do anything halfway.

I like to guess. Certainty does nothing for the imagination. [And right now, be certain he's using his imagination as he leers and drinks.]

[Have an eyeroll and a subject change.] What time are you expected back to work?

Noon tomorrow. We've got a half-day of recap before the next module. What about you?

Tomorrow night. [Smirks.] I find it hard to believe you don't already have plans, though.

If it's hard to believe, then that's for the best, as I do already have plans. [He lifts his glass looking over the top at her, his grin keeping him from drinking for the moment.]

[Takes a long drink, mainly ignoring him. Then, cheerfully:] Yeah? Great.

I think so. [Cue some fake hurt. Isn't she even gonna ask?]

[Smirks at him, propping her chin on her fist.] And what, pray tell, are your plans?

[Perks.] Well, I just happen to know someone in town and I had planned to catch up with her. But, now that I've done that, I'm open for whatever. [Bingo grins, almost mischievously!]

[Impulsively chucks him under the chin.] Sorry, kid, that woulda worked better if I hadn't seen it comin'. [Laughs and finishes her beer, beckoning for two more.] So you all swimmed out or do you wanna go back in for a bit?

[Mutters something about her purposefully derailing his moment, but goodnaturedly passes on it.] I'd never turn down an opportunity like that. Can I get a snack before we go, though? I'm starving and beer can only take me so far.

Of course, though I'm surprised you haven't said something about how I look good enough to eat. [Tries on his 'fake hurt' face but just can't sustain and laughs.]
